Beauty with in Port Angeles
Living in Port Angeles some times we forget what an amazing place we live in, till someone reminds us. Rebecca Phipps visited Port Angels in May of 2010 and fell in love with our incredible little city, So much so she wrote a poem about it. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did and take a moment to look at our town thru her eyes. Thanks Rebecca for the beautiful poem.
Port Angeles
A beauty within a town that I thought never existed
A snowy mountain converging on the unsuspecting population
A bay caressing its borders
Trapped by Mother Nature
But willing to stay captive
Trees dot the land
Filling it with colors
Blue, white, green
These are the seen colors…the expected colors
No one sees the purplish bruise-like colors of the raw mountain
The way the snow sits atop it like a cap
The water starts out as a bluish-gray
Teaming with life between the sea urchins and the boats
Then the sun breaks free and shimmering brilliance invades the eye
The greenery changes for every tree…
Lime green, hazel, jade, rich, lust forest green
And yet, all different, they are grouped alike with one name…
Trees
18,000 trapped by Mother Nature
18,000 willing to stay captive
My dearest, Port Angeles, your trickery is wise
