Food and Wine Event Features Olympic Peninsula Bounty and Talent

Port Angeles, WA– Tickets are now available for “A Taste of the Peninsula,” to be held Saturday, November 7 from 5 to 8:30 pm at the historic Naval Elks Lodge, 131 East First Street, in Port Angeles.  Sponsored by Sound Community Banklow cost and availability for all.

“A Taste of the Peninsula,” in its third year, features North Olympic Peninsula culinary talent, wineries and food products.  Wineries , this charitable event provides support for community programs and activities offered through the Clallam County Family YMCA, helping to ensure their pour their wines for tasting and chefs and food producers provide samplings of foods, many prepared with fresh fish and locally harvested ingredients from farms like Nash’s Organic Produce and Lazy J Tree Farm. 

A YMCA Community Art School exhibit, sponsored by 7 Cedars Casino, will feature works made of fused glass, clay, nature objects and more.  The “Taste of Jazz Quintet,” featuring Ed Donohue, Andy Geiger, Al Harris, Ted Enderle and Tom Svornich, will play live with support from Wilder Toyota and Kenmore Air.  A preview of silent auction items, focusing on “lifestyle,” will be available soon at:  www.ccfymca.org/events.html

Food participants this year include Oven Spoonful, Joy’s Wine Bistro, Michael’s Seafood & Steakhouse, and Raindrop Desserts & Chocolates of Port Angeles; Alder Wood Bistro, Bell Street Bakery, Double Eagle Steak & Seafood (at Cedars at Dungeness Golf Course), and Yvonne’s Chocolates of Sequim; and Mt. Townsend Creamery and Pane d’Amore Bakery of Port Townsend.  Wineries include Black Diamond, Camaraderie Cellars, Harbinger Winery and Olympic Cellars from Port Angeles; and Sorensen Cellars, FairWinds Winery and Eaglemount Wine & Cider from Port Townsend.  Locally roasted Princess Valiant Coffee will be available, as will fresh-pressed fall cider from Sunny Farms.

Tickets, which come with a 2-week YMCA fitness pass, are $45 each and are available at the YMCA, 302 South Francis Street in Port Angeles, at two Sound Community Bank locations– 110 North Alder in Port Angeles and 541 North 5th Avenue in Sequim– and by calling 360-452-9244.
