The 196-acre park facility includes upland forests, rocky bluffs, tide pools, sandy beaches, Salt Creek River access, and panoramic views of the Strait of Juan de Fuca, Crescent Bay, and Victoria, British Columbia. The remnants of World War II Fort Hayden are preserved on the site - two concrete bunkers which housed 16" cannons, and several sitting bunkers.

Hiking trails, 5 beach access walkways with interpretive information signs, a large playground, picnic areas, group picnic shelter, dump station, baseball field, horseshoe court, and a marine life sanctuary. The park also serves as a hiking trail access to the Department of Natural Resources trails which accesses the Striped Peak area.
The park and campground are open year round with the gate closing at dark. The park is managed by a resident park manager who lives on the site year round. A fee is charged for camping, showers, and firewood. There are no hookups for electricity or water, however, water is available in several locations throughout the park. Camping is on a first-come first-served basis, reservations are not available. Favorite activities for park users are camping, picnicking, social gatherings, playing at the playground, beach walking, tide pool exploring, hiking, scuba diving, whale watching inside Crescent Bay, swimming in the river, and surf boarding.
