Monday musings

Another week with beautiful weather on tap and some thoughts for you to consider:

TUMWATER TRUCK ROUTE (SR117) CLOSED AUGUST 4 - 29
The Tumwater Truck Route (SR117) will be closed to all traffic beginning Monday, August 4 through approximately August 29. This closure is necessary while the highway under the bridge is reconstructed.   The previously split highway under the bridge will be reconstructed into one two-lane highway that will connect with the existing highway north and south of the bridge. Work will include demolition, extensive grading, drainage adjustments and paving.

LOCAL and BUSINESS ACCESS
During the closure of the Truck Route, traffic will be rerouted to and from Marine Drive via Front, First and Lincoln Streets. Local traffic will still be able to access businesses located at the north end of SR117 off of Marine Dr., and also the south end of SR117 from US Hwy 101 to Lauridsen Blvd.

ALTERNATE ROUTES FOR PASSENGER VEHICLES
Along with the designated detour for truck traffic, passenger vehicles are encouraged to consider other alternate routes through the city such as:  Race St., Peabody St. and Lauridsen Blvd. to and from Front and US Highway 101 West. Please allow for extra travel time and consider taking the alternate detour routes. Detour map is available.
