Name: Early logging on the Olympic Peninsula, featuring Jack Zaccardo
    Date: October 12, 2017
    Time: 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM PDT
    Event Description:
Jack Zaccardo , retired Department of Natural Resources forester, will narrate photos of Clallam County’s logging history. Early Logging on the Olympic Peninsula will feature photos from NOLS’ Kellogg Collection, covering landscapes and portraits of forestry workers from the 1880s through the early 20th Century. These photos are from NOLS’ Bert Kellogg Collection, a collection of about 5,000 images that Zaccardo’s step-grandfather donated to the library in the 1970s. Beginning in 2012, the library began scanning this wealth of local history, with support from grants from the Washington State Library and the federally funded Institute of Museum and Library Services, and with generous gifts from the Port Angeles Friends of the Library. In 2017, the last photo was scanned. All photos are available to access online at http://www.nols.org/articles-databases/kellogg-photo.html or by clicking on “North Olympic Heritage” at www.washingtonruralheritage.com. This program is generously supported by the Port Angeles Friends of the Library. For more information about this program, email Discover@nols.org.
