Time:

Event Description:
The Serenity House of Clallam County fundraiser celebrating 10 years of progress toward ending homelessness with a gala dinner and auction of fine art. Lynda Day George, a leading television actress throughout the 1970s, and State Sen. Mark Miloscia of Federal Way will be the featured speakers. Ms. George is a supporter of a soon-to-open youth drop-in center at Serenity House?s Sequim Housing Resource Center. ?Something has to happen, particularly for young people who are homeless,? said Ms George, who owns rental properties in Port Angeles and divides her time between Sequim and California. Sen. Miloscia is recognized statewide as a ?housing hero,? for his lead role, especially when he was chair of the state House of Representatives? housing committee in 2005, in dramatically increasing state spending for the homeless and requiring the state and each county to create a plan to address the root causes of homelessness. The event celebrates accomplishments under the Ten Year Plan to End Homelessness in Clallam County, written as a result of Miloscia?s legislation, and raises funds to support Serenity House?s ongoing efforts to end homelessness. Emcee Scott Schaefer, Serenity House board president, will recognize organizations and elected officials who have been key partners in reducing homelessness by 65 percent in Clallam County from 2006 to 2015. Call 360-452-7224 to donate art for auction.
