Port Angeles 4th of July Celebration

The Port Angeles Regional Chamber of Commerce is delighted to organize and promote the 4th of July celebration in downtown Port Angeles and on the city's picturesque waterfront.  We are planning an even better than last year, all-day-long patriotic festival downtown, including concerts on the City Pier (with beer garden), activities for children and families at the Gateway Plaza, a an improved parade route that starts at 6PM, and awesome fireworks on the bay near City Pier that start at dark (a little after 10pm).

Join us from noon to 11pm on the City Pier for a full day of Baseball, Hotdogs, Apple Pie, and Chevrolet -- to go along with concerts from local favorite bands.  There will also be a wine & beer garden operating during the concerts!   Many thanks to Ruddell Chevrolet, who plans to put several awesome Chevy vehicles on display on the Pier, and to the Port Angeles Lefties, who will be on hand to sign autographs and perhaps play catch with kids (bring your glove!).  Enjoy a variety of pies from the Blackbird Coffeehouse, and Click HERE for information about competing in the Apple Pie Baking Contest: "Pies on the Pier!" -- hosted by Kate McDermott, author of the nationally acclaimed book "Art of the Pie."

For the Parade, which starts at 6pm, there will be sound systems and announcers at Waterfront Park, at the corner of Laurel Street and Railroad Ave, and at the corner of 1st Street and Laurel Street.  This year, we are very excited to be able to award prizes to the most outstanding parade entries, which we hope will help improve the quality of parade entries this year, and in the years to follow.  Applications for parade entries will soon be available at Kitsap Bank, at the Port Angeles Visitor Center, or parade application downloadable here.   The most important thing right now is that everyone (organizations, clubs, businesses, schools, etc...) needs to start planning their floats.  You can win up to $1,000 for best float!

We are once again bringing back the popular vendor booths in the Gateway Transit Center Lanes (buses not running on the holiday).  If you'd like to apply for a vendor booth, they are $50 for each 10'x10' space, and information and vendor application form is available for download HERE.

AND AND AND -- this just in -- we are also working on adding a few new and exciting activities:

    • a CORNHOLE Tournament at Waterfront Park -- with prize money for the winners (more info HERE).
    • a PICKLEBALL Tournament -- will be held at a location downtown, TBD -- with prize money for the winners, and
    • a LAWNMOWER DERBY -- will be held at a location downtown, TBD.

Many thanks to all the people and organizations who have helped make it possible to create a spectacular fireworks show out on the bay, but most especially:  WAVE Broadband, The Port of Port Angeles, Tesoro, Olympic Tug & Barge, and Arrow Launch Services.

All these festivities could not happen without the help from the hardworking staff of the Port Angeles City Police Department, Fire Department, and Parks and Rec Department.

Nothing says America like a community 4th of July Celebration so plan your holiday and invite guests to join us in downtown Port Angeles!
