Ride The Hurricane

This unique event allows cyclists to have the famed Hurricane Ridge Road all to themselves and free of vehicles from 7AM-noon. This is not a race but a recreational ride with participation limited to 500 riders.
Riders will have two options as to where they can start; either at the entrance gate by Heart Of The Hills Campground, or from the Olympic National Park Visitor Center at the base of Hurricane Ridge Road. Registration opens at 6AM at the Visitor Center. Riders may start the longer ride from the visitor center using the lower ridge road after registration, but the Heart Of The Hills access gate to the upper section of the Hurricane Ridge Road will not open until 7AM at which point all riders can proceed. Please be aware the ridge road will open to traffic at noon so all event riders need to be off the road by this time.
Registration is $35 and includes a photo from the Hurricane Ridge which will be e-mailed to the rider, a custom Ride The Hurricane Beanie/skullcap, and refreshments at the summit house provided by Aramark Properties. The event will provide several aide stations along the route with water available and restrooms. $5 of every registration will go to the trail development of the Olympic Discovery Trail.
Hurricane Ridge Road is considered one of the premier cycling uphill rides in the country and offers spectacular views.
A change for 2012 will allow riders to descend at their own pace. NO PILOT CARS ARE GOING TO BE USED.
