The Port Angeles Regional Chamber of Commerce is delighted to announce Wave Broadband has once again confirmed their role as the presenting sponsor for the Port Angeles 4th of July celebration. This financial commitment from Wave allows the community to present a terrific firework show which takes place over the picturesque Port Angeles waterfront. The firework crew will set up again this year as they have for the past several years at Francis Street Park. This does make it necessary to close the waterfront trail from the Rayonier access point and also a few hundred yards east of The Red Lion Hotel to insure the safety of the public. Best viewing areas for the show which takes place a little after 10PM are from City Pier or from the waterfront trail.
The chamber is delighted to promote the festivities of Independence Day starting with a parade at 6PM and the much anticipated Coast Guard Helicopter flyover. The parade heads down Lincoln and then turns on First Street and entertains the crowd all through downtown where it ends at Valley Street. The parade is sponsored by Kitsap Bank who provides the staff to accept applications leading up to the 4th and then organizes all the participants. The chamber provides sound systems and announcers at Veteran’s Park, Laurel Street Fountain, and at the corner of Oak and First. Then as the sun begins to set the bands at City Pier sponsored by Sunset Do It Best Hardware take center stage. At 7PM the country band Old Sidekicks gets the night started. Then rounding out the night the community favorite Fat Chance takes the stage with their rock and roll classics until the 10PM firework show.
Of course this event could not happen without the help from the Port Angeles City Police Department, Fire Department and Parks and Rec Department.
